Mobile phones are constantly improving with functions, ease of use and battery life. But our phones are also increasing the likelihood of over use, stress and addiction.
Technically, we don’t become addicted to our mobile phones but we can develop behavioural addictions to our smartphone functions. Worldwide, more than 2 billion people own a smartphone and the average user checks their phone 85 times a day.
Over use of our phones can negatively affect our mindset. How many times have you looked at your phone and felt completely overwhelmed with the number of emails in your inbox? Or felt disappointed or insecure with the limited number of reactions to a Facebook or Instagram post? How often are you out with family and friends and someone chooses to answer their phone or check their phone instead of devoting their time to you?
Don’t let your phone control your mindset. Turn your phone into a powerful mindset tool.
1. Turn off all notifications to encourage your mind to stay focus on the present moment.
2. Designate a few times each day to check your phone. This will allow you to be mindful of reactions, email replies and improve overall productivity throughout your day.
3. Remove Apps that don’t provide a positive impact in your daily life.
4. Invest in Apps that help you become more mindful, efficient and productive. These are a couple of Apps that I personally can recommend:
Audible
Listen anywhere, anytime to your favourite books. Audible has the world’s largest selection of audiobooks. The App is free to download and you purchase books that remain in your library forever.
Evernote
Evernote is an amazing organisation tool for note taking, task lists, organising and more. Evernote also allows multiple people to collaborate on shared notebooks which can be instantly updated and accessed from desktop, laptop or mobile devices. With Evernote, everything is synced. All of your notes, files, web clips or images are available across all your devices.
Headspace
Headspace is meditation made simple. Meditation has been shown to help people stress less, focus more and even sleep better. The Headspace App is designed to teach you life-changing skills of meditation and mindfulness in just a few minutes a day.
